The Green Dragons Flying Club

Joining the Green Dragons Club means you will fly more because you have a group of instructors, coaches and fellow pilots all working together. Being a member of the Green Dragons Club ensures that you are familiar with all of our pilots and flying sites. Working with fellow pilots to plan sessions and learning new techniques from our instructors will build your confidence. 

Our network of instructors and coaches have a wealth of knowledge about our private sites and the popular UK flying sites. They are always there to help you make the right decisions about when to fly and why to fly according to your skill set. Being part of the club means that you will received more coaching and training sessions whilst you are flying our private sites. It also means that you have a friendly face on the busy public sites and reassurance that someone is keeping an eye on you as you develop as a pilot.

Simply put the Green Dragons Club is a perfect way to stay safe whilst you develop into a truly independent pilot. Our sole aim is to get you more airtime and give you the information and skills to progress your flying career.

What benefits do club member receive?

There are lot of benefits from being a Green Dragons Club member. These include but are not limited to:

• We offer coaching and theory classes in, cross country flying, Spot landing, active piloting, thermalling and many more.

• Club members are welcome to come fly with us and have preference when we book, UK trips, Thermal Chasers holidays and Events organised by Green Dragons.

• You are welcome to fly our sites including the North Downs, use our winch field and ground training fields..

• We run training sessions in ground handling and on site flight planning so you can maximise your flying time and develop you flying skills.

• We will give advice on weather conditions and likely flying conditions. This will help you fly more and stay safe whilst you are at our flying sites.

• Special equipment and course offers are periodically available to members.

• Members have access to a daily morning flying weather report, given by an experienced instructor or coach, to help you get the best out of your flying day.

• Club members and their families are invited to many events throughout the year including, camping weekends, BBQs, Christmas Parties and much more.

Green Dragons Club Membership Fees

Hill flyer membership is £70.00 per year 

Power flyer membership is £100.00 per year 

Tow and power membership is £110.00 per year

Hill, tow and power membership is £150.00 per year

Towing Day ticket is £5.00 for members (£10.00 for non-members) and £3.00 per tow.

Power and hill flying take offs and landings are unlimited for members.

By completing this form i agree to all of the below points and agree that all participants of Green Dragons flying events must be members of the BHPA.

You are required to bring your BHPA membership card with you each time you fly on a Green Dragons site.

BHPA operation procedures must be adhered to at all times.

Membership commences on receipt of your application in the Green Dragons office. It is your responsibility to renew your membership yearly.

The member will have access to all open Green Dragons flying sites.

The Green Dragons School has priority on flying rights at all times. Instructors may stand down qualified pilots, to allow trainees to carry out their soaring flights.

Qualified Green Dragons Instructors, Club Coaches or Staff Officials may control who takes off etc. from time to time, in order to sustain a safe flying environment.

A Green Dragons Instructor must be present at all times, for trainees.

Whilst using any of the Green Dragon’s sites, pilots are responsible for their own actions and no claims will be made against Green Dragons, Land Owners or members of the public for any incident, howsoever caused.

On arrival at the Green Dragons Headquarters, you are required to report to the office, to inform a member of staff that you will be flying on site. They can inform you which site is being used by other Club Members/the School.

You must have another person present while you are flying. It is strictly forbidden for anyone to fly alone, for obvious emergency reasons.

All “qualifying” members can participate in “inter-club” competitions (Tow Launch Accuracy & X- Country).

Membership is payable by Cash, Credit Card or Cheque/PO (made payable to “Green Dragons Leisure Ltd).

All Green Dragons coaches and instructors are entitled to 50% discount on Club Membership fees. To maintain a Club Coaching / Trainee Instructor / Instructor badge at the Green Dragons Club, you must attend at least 6 coaching sessions per year.

Green Dragons reserves the right to reject any application, although an explanation will always be given.

Green Dragons reserves the right to stop any membership for breaking the Terms & Conditions or causing any unwanted situations, although an explanation will always be given.

No refunds are available for membership of Green Dragons.

If a membership lapses, it is your responsibility to renew, otherwise, membership will be cancelled by Green Dragons.

Green Dragons will inform members of changes to membership Terms & Conditions & Renewals.

Members will be responsible for informing Green Dragons of any changes to their membership details/contact information / Next of Kin etc.

From time to time, extra subsidence fees will be incurred & charged to the Members if you are attending an event, such fees could include; petrol / camping / site fees etc.

If there is an event that you wish to attend, please call the office to book your place(s), this saves time & expense for the club & its staff.

If you have booked a place at an event & you do not attend, & have not informed us within 48 hours of the cancellation of your place, Green Dragons will charge you the full amount.

Winching / Towing Day ticket is £5.00 for members (£10.00 for non-members) and £3.00 per winch / tow.

All members must abide by the above terms & conditions.
