Hang Gliding School Activity

24th May - 2nd June 2024

Green Dragons Airsports will be running a Hang Gliding school, offering Trial days, Elementary Pilot Tow courses, Club Pilot Tow Courses, Tow conversions and qualified CP Tow revision training sessions.

The GDA team is also offering, during the 10 days, the opportunity for BHPA Trainee Instructor development and teaching parallel tow/tow coach.

ONLY 6 places per day - to maximise flying for those booked in

Parallel towing is a unique teaching towing system , whether you have a day 1 person or day 6+ person.

Training Available

All training will follow the BHPA Technical manual and BHPA Student training log books. Copies of your log books will be issued after GBAR. 

Trial days - 7 hours training

Half hour classroom work, a couple of hours ground school, learning pitch and roll control, take offs and landings, followed by 5 low level flights. 

Elementary Pilot (EP) Course - 5 days (can be staggered days across the event)

Everything on trial day, Basic theory Air law, Meteorology, Theory of flight, Airmanship, then flights each day with gradual height increases, self releasing and introduction to 45’ 90’ turns, minimum of 30 flights.

Club Pilot (CP) Course - 5 days (can be staggered days across the event)

Continue EP tasks, whilst flying higher, 180’ turns and 360’ turns/circuits.

Complete your training and achieve Club Pilot Rating that allows you to fly across the world.

Tow conversion 

For BHPA CP Hill rated pilots. Theory lessons, low level, mid level, high level flights

Refresher training for qualified CP Tow pilots 

You will be with us for 7 hours practicing as many take off and landings as we can during the day.

Communication / Daily routine - Operating hours

We will set up a dedicated GBAR HG Training Whatsapp group to announce start times each day. The start times will be announced at 8pm the evening before. Be prepared for daylight hours training early morning or late evening flying.
